Drug Court

The Vigo County Drug Court program started its operations in September 1996. It was one of the first drug courts in the state of Indiana. The program uses a non-adversarial approach to the traditional criminal justice system in that there is a team approach to working with individuals to assist in their successful transition to being a productive member within their community. The program is designed to provide services to active participants for a minimum time frame of 18 months.

The mission of the Vigo County Drug Court is to offer active participants timely sentencing alternative for non-violent, substance abusing or dependent offenders to reduce substance abuse and criminal recidivism within the community. The program utilizes a multi-disciplinary team approach to provide resources to participants to increase their opportunity for recovery and productivity, while seeking to enhance community safety
