Event Description:

The 36th annual Pioneer Days will be held at Fowler Park on October 4th and 5th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Over 150 volunteers bring the 1840s' pioneer village alive with crafts and activities of the time.  Two new log buildings have been added this past year bringing the total to 16 plus the log barn, smokehouse and gristmill.  Lauras' Cabin, a family home, now sits across from the Carpenters' Cabin.  A new enlarged Blacksmith Shop featuring blacksmithing techniques from past to present sits behind the old shop.  Visitors are encouraged to ask questions, participate in the many hands-on activities and sample "what's cooking" as they roam through the village.  Located amongst the cabins are old-fashioned crafters who both demonstrate and sell their crafts. Local artists will be in the covered bridge displaying their talent and selling their art works. On the south side of the covered bridge are food vendors and the Traders' Market with handcrafted and other unique items for sale.  Wagon rides are available for a small fee. Parking is $2 to offset the hiring of additional help.  Fowler Park is south of Terre Haute off U.S. Hwy. 41.  For more information, call (812) 462-3392.
